Day 4 – Jispa – Sarchu

Post breakfast we check out from the hotel and ride north on the Manali-Leh Highway. You get to see some of the most breath taking landscapes that the Western Himalayas can offer. The scenery gets more stark and barren as we climb up to the 16,500 ft high Baralacha La the second mountain pass on our journey. From the pass beautiful views of meadows and snow-capped mountains can be seen. By early evening we reach the small hamlet of Sarchu with set on a large plateau. Upon arrival in Sarchu we check into camp. Evening at leisure & overnight stay at the camp. (B, D)

Day 5 – Sarchu – Leh

Leave for Leh by early morning, through Nakeelaand Lachangla Pass. After Lunch drive to Leh passing through Skyangchu Thang (Biggest and Highest Plateau on Stretch of 42 Kms), Tanglang La Pass and Indus Valley. Check in at our Hotel. Overnight stay at Leh. (B, D)

Day 6 – Leh

Today is a well deserved rest day for the man and the machine. It is essential at this altitude to acclimatize. Overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 7 – Leh – Khardung La – Nubra Valley

Today is the day, we all came on this ride to be on Top of the World – the Khardung La! From the pass, one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif. Nubra Valley is popularly known the valley of flowers. It is situated in the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 Ft. above sea level. Upon arrival in Nubra we check in at our Camp/Hotel. Overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 8 – Nubra Valley – Leh

After an early breakfast we check out from the Camp and drive to HUNDER where you have opportunity to ride on a bacterian camel (double humped) amidst the sand dunes of this high altitude desert with snow capped mountains on the horizon. Between Hunder and Diskit you come across sand dunes besides the road. It is indeed a strange sight since immediately on the left of the road are rocky mountains that characterize the Ladakhi landscape and in the distance can be seen snow-capped mountains. On the return stop at DISKIT which is the headquarter town of Nubra Valley. Stroll around the bazaar observing the shops and local people going about their daily chores. Diskit is famous for 515 years old Buddhist Monastery, lying magnificently situated on a hilltop, facing the entire Valley. Later we drive back to Leh in the late afternoon via Khardungla Top. On arrival at Leh you will check in to your Hotel. Overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 9 – Leh – Pangong Tso

Today we head towards Pangong Lake enroute visiting Shey Palace, 3 Idiots Rancho School & Thiksey. One of the toughest water crossings on this route is near the Lake – real challenge for man and machine! But once you get to the lake you will forget the tough ride, the maniacal streams and the cold. To find such a huge expanse of calm blue water at that altitude! It’s definitely worth the ride. Overnight stay at Pangong. (B, D)

Day 10 – Pangong Tso – Leh

Today we shall head back the same way to Leh. We shall make an early start and try to reach Leh by afternoon enroute visiting Hemis Gompa. We need a well deserved rest and an early night. Overnight at Hotel. (B, D)

Day 11 – Leh – Lamayuru – Leh

After an early breakfast we ride to the 11th Century Lamayuru Monastery enroute visiting the mesmerizing Moon Landscapes (you will believe why the name of this area is Moonland. Exactly the same formations of Land are visible as on the moon). Lamayuru is spectacularly located along the valley plain and surrounded by mountains on all sides. On your return drive to Leh and visit the Alchi Gompa. Finally you arrive back at Leh for an overnight stay at your Hotel. (B, D)
